On the occasion of the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games, Corti Srl contributed to the construction of the new Olympic Village, which will host approximately 1,400 Olympic and Paralympic athletes.
The structure was designed with a long-term vision, as it will be converted into student housing for university students in Milan after the event. A tangible example of urban regeneration and the enhancement of services for the academic community.
Our contribution: technology and safety for controlled access
Thanks to our expertise in the field of technical plastics, we were selected by a leading company in the plant engineering sector to supply plastic components for an access control system at the Olympic Village.
The system is a connected solution that reads an identification code, validated through software installed on a smartphone or tablet, to enable accurate monitoring and prevent unauthorized access.
Self-extinguishing plastic components, UL 94 V-0 certified: safety first
The device we developed is made of self-extinguishing plastic components, including a flush-mounted box designed to house the microchip and a cover plate with four integrated screw caps for secure fastening.
The solution is also featured in the Corriere TV video on the Milan Olympic Village, which documents the spaces and the technical solutions adopted.
The material we used is UL 94 V-0 certified, in compliance with the most stringent standards for flame resistance. In a context where fire safety is a fundamental priority, our knowledge of current regulations and the relevant classifications guided us in selecting a highly self-extinguishing and durable material, capable of ensuring high levels of protection.

In the process of selecting a high-performance plastic material, flame resistance was only one of the criteria considered.
In addition to the UL 94 V-0 certification, the material used exhibits high mechanical and chemical resistance, which is essential to ensure the structural durability and functional stability of the device over time, even in harsh environments or under mechanical stress.
Furthermore, the option of aesthetic customization through painting has been integrated, allowing for perfect visual harmonization between the plastic components and the surrounding architectural surfaces, without compromising the technical properties of the material.
